3M Mode Conditioning Cable — ST (Male) to LC (Male) Fiber Optic, 9.84 ft for 1000BASE-LX (1300 nm)

Designed for Gigabit Ethernet 1000BASE-LX deployments, this 3M mode conditioning cable meets IEEE 802.3z requirements and lets single-mode LX transceivers be used over existing multimode plant. LX transceivers use a single-mode launch at 1300 nm; if that launch is centered in multimode fiber it can create multiple signal paths (Differential Mode Delay, DMD) that confuse the receiver and severely reduce usable link distance. The mode conditioning patch cord offsets the single-mode launch away from the multimode core center to eliminate those multiple signals and restore proper Gigabit Ethernet reach.
