The 8-inch basket supports your chosen hydroponic media (clay pebbles sold separately) such as clay pebbles, #4 perlite, rockwool mini cubes, coco chips, etc. An included air pump sends air through the hose to the bottom of the reservoir to oxygenate the nutrient solution and promote healthy root development; pumping raw air into the solution is a cost-effective approach and this design eliminates the need for air stones.
