Adobe FrameMaker (v. 12) License — 1 user, Commercial / Consignment / Indirect, 0 points, ESD, Win, Universal English
Multi-channel publishing from a single application: FrameMaker 12 lets you produce content for many devices and formats without extra add-ons. Export to EPUB 3, KF8, MOBI, WebHelp, CHM, and HTML5 with one click, define settings once for enterprise-wide reuse, and run batch jobs to generate multiple outputs simultaneously. Built-in MathML editing: Native MathML support is provided through integration with MathFlow Structure and Style editors from Design Science. Insert or edit MathML equations, import them as images with auto-sizing, and preserve the MathML source inside XML files so all documents (including XML) render embedded equations correctly. Adobe Experience Manager integration: FrameMaker 12 includes out-of-the-box connectivity to Adobe Experience Manager (formerly Adobe CQ). Perform check-in/check-out, upload, copy, move, and create files; access digital asset metadata and version history; view dependents; and adjust preferences to customize the AEM workflow. Customizable UI and productivity features: Personalize the interface with large or regular icons in color or grayscale, use floating toolbars and control bars, dock frequently used dialogs, and save workspace layouts tailored to your processes. A Quick Element toolbar lets you insert or wrap content with icons instead of tag names and can be mapped to custom DTDs. Concurrent authoring and PDF-based reviews: Author and review in parallel — edit source content while reviewers add comments. Review notes are imported back into the FrameMaker source when the referenced content remains unchanged. Use the mobile Adobe Reader app to let reviewers comment on PDFs from smartphones and tablets; those annotations can be imported seamlessly into FrameMaker. Smart Catalogs and Conditional Text Pod: Open catalogs (element, paragraph, character) with a keyboard shortcut, view large catalogs (10 elements displayed at a time), search or filter dynamically, and insert elements quickly. The improved Conditional Text Pod makes single‑sourcing easier—apply or remove multiple conditions with visual checkmarks and save time when preparing variant outputs. DITA and map handling: Expand DITA maps by resolving each topicref to preview content quickly. Open topics individually or all at once, preview nested topics without opening them one by one, edit by clicking a topic, and refresh to view updates. Out-of-the-box support for publishing DITA content with DITA OTK is included so you can generate HTML, Microsoft HTML Help (.CHM), and Java Help without separate installation. Whitespace and XML compliance: Whitespace inserted in XML views (in FrameMaker or other XML editors) follows XML standards—pretty-printing spaces are ignored or preserved as specified. Use the XML:space attribute to mark whitespace that must be preserved. Session, file management, and navigation enhancements: Restore your previous session with a single click—open files, pods, panels, their locations, and the selected authoring view are returned. The Currently Open Files pod displays all open files across views with full file paths, helps you spot saved vs. unsaved and active files, and lets you save or close multiple files at once. QR code generation: Create and edit embedded QR codes in real time, generate them at different sizes, and use them with popular iOS or Android QR Reader apps to link print and online content. Advanced conditional and search capabilities: Build complex conditional tag expressions using nested parentheses and Boolean operators with an intuitive UI; expressions validate as you type and can be named and saved for reuse. For powerful searches and replacements, use regular expressions with any of three engines—Perl, Grep, or Egrep. Regular-expression searches work across body text, footnotes, markers, variables, and more; the Boost library is used with Perl as the default engine. Dropbox integration and collaboration: Work from any machine and collaborate across networks with built-in Dropbox support. Choose whether dependent files are uploaded, share documents with subject matter experts and reviewers, and keep files updated with imported review comments. Performance improvements: FrameMaker 12 launches much faster than FrameMaker 11, opens various XML document types more quickly, and includes several performance optimizations to reduce time spent on routine tasks.
