The cable houses 12 singlemode fibers with a 9 micron core and a 125 microns cladding diameter. Fibers are ITU-T G.652.D compliant, providing backward compatibility with legacy singlemode installations. Strength members are Aramid yarn and the assembly is enclosed in a yellow PVC outer jacket. Singlemode performance is optimized for 1310nm and 1550nm wavelengths. This cable is Plenum Rated for installation in air-handling spaces (the areas between floors or above ceilings that can spread smoke and fire); plenum jackets use fire-retardant, low-smoke materials (commonly low-smoke PVC or FEP) to limit toxic emissions during a fire.
