Engineered for multimedia professionals, the Canon EOS R5 Mark II pairs a new stacked, back-illuminated 45MP full-frame sensor with Canon’s DIGIC Accelerator and DIGIC X processors to deliver high-resolution stills at up to 30 fps and internal DCI 8K RAW video recording up to 60p. The updated 45MP sensor preserves the high resolution of the previous model while its stacked BSI design allows room for the DIGIC Accelerator, improving overall performance. Together with DIGIC X, the camera leverages large, deep-learning datasets to enhance subject tracking and recognition and to improve pre-continuous capture, blackout-free shooting, video resolution, and maximum recording time. Eye Control AF — reintroduced from the EOS R3 — returns here with redesigned optics and a revised line-of-sight detection algorithm that nearly doubles the detection frame rate; Eye Control Focus is integrated with the improved subject tracking and recognition systems to keep the intended subject sharp. Borrowing many features and workflow advantages from the R5 C and its Cinema EOS relatives, the R5 Mark II supports full-sensor-width 4K SRAW recording as well. This is the first EOS model to offer Wi‑Fi 6E/Wi‑Fi 6 wireless support for faster, broader-band communication. A new, higher-capacity LP-E6P lithium-ion battery is required to enable 8K recording, the camera’s top drive speeds, and other advanced functions; LP-E6N and LP-E6NH batteries can be used but with limited capabilities and reduced life durations. The body remains lightweight and compact and is built with dust- and moisture-sealed construction for reliable use in adverse conditions.
