Chapel of Reconciliation - Berlin Germany Photography Black and White Abstract Geometric Minimalist Architecture Industrial Modern Art White Framed Wall Art Print 10 x 10 inches
ABOUT THE ART: Chapel of Reconciliation by SILVA CAPITANA. The construction of the Berlin Wall also divided the reconciliation community. From 1961 onwards, the Church of Reconciliation, built in 1894, was no longer accessible to the community in the western part of the city because it stood on the “death strip” between the inner and outer walls. The GDR government finally ordered the church to be blown up in 1985 in order to have a clear view of the border strip. After German reunification, the parish received the property back in 1995 with the condition that it be used for sacred purposes.
