A nonslip upper rim makes the filter simple to install, rotate and remove. The glass features double sided, multi-layered coatings and is anti-oil, anti-dust, anti-soil, scratch & water resistant. As a circular polarizing (CPL) filter, it removes unwanted reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water and glass, and it boosts color and contrast. Photographers commonly use it to increase contrast and saturation in blue skies and white clouds and to cut haze in distant landscapes for richer, more vivid colors. CPL filters work by arranging and filtering directionally polarized light perpendicularly to reflected light, allowing much of that reflected light to be absorbed. The effect is strongest when the filter is used at a 90° angle from the sun.
