What it does: this Circular CPL filter removes unwanted reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water and glass, enhances color and contrast, and is frequently used to boost saturation and contrast in blue skies and white clouds. By arranging and filtering directionally polarized light perpendicular to reflected light, the filter allows much of that reflected light to be absorbed, clearing haze in distant landscapes and producing more saturated, vivid colors. For the strongest effect aim to use it at a 90° angle from the sun.
