A nonslip upper rim gives secure, easy mounting, rotation and removal. The glass carries double-sided, multi-layered coatings that are anti-oil, anti-dust, anti-soil, and resistant to scratches and water. Optically, the CPL cuts unwanted reflections from non-metallic surfaces like water and glass and increases color depth and contrast. Photographers often use it to intensify blue skies and white clouds, reduce haze in distant landscapes and achieve richer, more saturated colors. The filter works by arranging and filtering directionally polarized light perpendicular to reflected light so much of that light is absorbed — with the strongest effect at a 90° angle from the sun.
