Double Eagle "Coated" Centipede Grass Seed - 25 Lbs.
Double Eagle seed treated with Advanta Technology helps retain moisture for improved germination. Seeding Rate: Plant 1/4 to 1 lb. per 1000 sq. ft. Centipedegrass (Eremochloa ophiuroides) was introduced into the United States from southeastern Asia in 1916 and is well adapted to the soils and climate of Central and Northern Florida; it is the most common home lawn grass in the Florida Panhandle. This grass is slow-growing, stays close to the ground, and has a medium texture with a naturally lighter color than many other lawn grasses. Compared to other Florida turfgrasses, centipedegrass requires lower fertility; overfertilizing with nitrogen to force an unnaturally dark green can reduce cold tolerance, increase long-term maintenance issues, and is believed to contribute to centipedegrass decline, a disease complex that causes patches of dead turf in spring. Advantages: performs well in acidic (pH 4.5 to 6.5) and infertile soils, offers fair shade tolerance, and survives drought by going dormant.
