Overview: The E180-DTU(Z20-ETH) provides centralized network access following the ZIGBEE 3.0 security standard to ensure reliable, authenticated communication. It implements the Zigbee 3.0 network model and is compatible with the ZCL network protocol for seamless device interoperability. Capacity and scale: Built with 256K flash and 32K RAM, this gateway can support a network expanded up to 80 nodes without firmware or memory spec changes. Flexible device roles and topologies: Via serial-port instructions the unit can be switched between coordinator, router and terminal modes. It supports multiple network layouts including point-to-point, star and MESH configurations to match diverse deployment needs. Resilience and routing: A self-healing Mesh is maintained automatically — if intermediate nodes drop out the topology is rebuilt and missing nodes rejoin after reboot. The module also provides built-in network routing functionality. Network join control and convenience: The coordinator manages opening and closing the network join window. While open, ZigBee3.0-compliant devices may join; once closed no devices can join. If the coordinator remains open it will auto-close after 180 seconds. Adding nodes is simplified: devices do not need to preset PANID or channel — they only need to request join during the coordinator’s open window (one-click network addition). Automatic channel and PANID allocation: When creating a network the coordinator selects the optimal channel and assigns a PANID automatically to avoid conflicts with other coordinators. Addressing and security: Users can map a node’s unique fixed MAC address to its short address, and retrieve a node’s long address from its short address. Data protection is enforced by the integrated ZIGBEE 3.0 security communication framework, which employs multi-level security keys.
