The EBYTE E870-G1 is an industrial-grade 4G CAT1 cloud edge collection gateway designed for robust field use between -40~85℃. It supports the "EBYTE Cloud Device Communication Protocol" open protocol and enables remote management via the EBYTE cloud platform. As an edge gateway it can acquire and control up to 500 Modbus RTU data points while also handling analog collection and switching tasks. Multiple network and reporting options are supported: 4G/Ethernet two access methods with automatic network switching, adaptive 10/100M Ethernet interface, DNS, APN support, and FOTA for remote upgrades. Communication protocols include TCPC, UDPC and MQTT3.1.1; the device also supports registration packets and heartbeat packets for reliable connectivity. Data handling is flexible — the gateway allows change reporting and cycle reporting, accepts Ali Cloud JSON protocol reporting, and can apply edge calculation formulas to upstream and downstream data. It provides 4-way socket independent connections to user-defined servers and supports serial port shunt functionality. Configuration and maintenance are available through the EBYTE cloud platform, PC tools and web pages. Devices can be upgraded both from PC and via the cloud. The unit can operate as an RTU resolution host, executing Modbus RTU command acquisition and controlling device IO. Additional utility features include a self-calibrating RTC to maintain accurate timing.
