After import from Africa, each instrument is cleaned, inspected, tuned, and played individually to check sound and quality. Unique, mellow, very tonal sound, tuned up and ready to play, right out of the box. Solid one-piece construction using Mansonia, a legally harvested tropical drum wood. Treated with at least 3 coats of coconut oil and shea butter, to hydrate and beautify wood. Hand crafted in Africa by village cultural artisans supported by the non-profit Africa Heartwood Project .
