Questions and answers about the product: Question 1:are there backer plates manufactured for these fenders(et-247)? Answer:No ... any angle iron would work. My trailer had the brackets already Question 2:How wide are these it says both 14 and 9 which is it? Answer:9in Question 3:Raw steel? Have to be painted? Answer:Yes, they need to be painted. Good quality. Hope this helps Question 4:How deep or tall is the flat lip that fits up against the trailer wall? It will serve as a fastening flange in my use. Answer:The lip is about 1 1/2 inches of rolled edge. I believe it will provide a strong welding surface for the inside of the fender. Question 5:Are these fenders weld only? Answer:No ... I drilled 2 holes in each end of the fenders and bolted it to the brackets that came off the main frame of the trailer. Question 6:can the backing be screwed on Answer:Sure, or pop riveted, or welded. Welding is just neatest. Question 7:Can you also buy mounting brackets so you don’t have to weld them Answer:I used self tapping metal screws to mount mine. There is enough room on the bends to do it this way.
