Los Angeles Rams The Los Angeles Rams are a professional football team based in Los Angeles, California, and compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member of the NFC West division. The franchise has one of the most unique and mobile histories in the league, originally founded in 1936 as the Cleveland Rams. After winning an NFL Championship in 1945, the team relocated to Los Angeles in 1946, becoming the first major pro sports franchise on the West Coast. The Rams later moved to St. Louis in 1995, where they won Super Bowl XXXIV in the 1999 season with the high-powered “Greatest Show on Turf” offense, led by Kurt Warner, Marshall Faulk, and Isaac Bruce. In 2016, the team returned to Los Angeles, reestablishing its presence in Southern California. Under head coach Sean McVay, who became the youngest head coach in modern NFL history in 2017, the Rams experienced a swift resurgence. McVay led the team to Super Bowl LIII in the 2018 season and secured the franchise’s second Super Bowl title in Super Bowl LVI (2021 season), defeating the Cincinnati Bengals at their home stadium. The 2021 team was powered by the acquisition of veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford, star wide receiver Cooper Kupp, and a strong defense anchored by Aaron Donald and Von Miller. The Rams are known for innovation and flair, from their historic introduction of the first helmet logo in 1948 (the iconic ram horns) to their aggressive roster-building strategies in recent years. The team has produced numerous Hall of Famers, including Eric Dickerson, Deacon Jones, Jack Youngblood, and Orlando Pace. Their legacy is marked by adaptation and resilience across multiple cities and eras, and with a young coaching staff and a front office unafraid to make bold moves, the Rams continue to be a prominent and ambitious franchise in the NFL landscape.
