Prepare small amounts of pH 6.86, pH 4.00 and pH 9.18 buffer solutions in clean beakers. 2. To minimize contamination and improve calibration accuracy, use two beakers for each buffer: one for rinsing the electrode and a fresh one for the actual calibration. 3. Turn the instrument on. 4. Place the electrode into the pH 6.86 buffer and gently agitate until the reading stabilizes. 5. Press the CAL button until the calibration indicator lights, then press PH7 until the display reads 6.86. Rinse the electrode with distilled water. 6. Immerse the electrode in the pH 4.00 buffer and wait for a stable reading. 7. Press the CAL button until the calibration indicator lights, then press PH4 until the display reads 4.00. Rinse the electrode with distilled water. 8. Finally, immerse the electrode in the pH 9.18 buffer and wait for the display to stabilize at 9.18. 9.
