This listing is for the hard drive circuit board / logic board only — the hard drive itself is not included. Most hard drive PCBs contain unique calibration and identity data stored in a ROM "memory" chip; that data is required for correct drive operation. The ROM chip or its contents must be transferred to the replacement board or the new PCB must be reprogrammed with the correct ROM data. If transfer is possible, a local computer technician can usually perform the chip transplant. For customers with orders of $60 or more we include a complimentary adaptation service, which covers either moving the ROM chip onto the new PCB or reprogramming the replacement board with the proper ROM data.
