Sony a7 III ILCE-7M3K Mirrorless Digital Camera — 24.2 MP Full-Frame, 4K/30 fps + FE 28-70mm OSS, Wi‑Fi/NFC/Bluetooth (Black)
Overview: The Sony a7 III combines a full-frame imaging system with advanced processing to deliver high-quality results across stills and video. It features a 24.2-megapixel Exmor R CMOS sensor with a back-illuminated design and the BIONZ X image processing engine paired with front-end LSI. This hardware combination provides a data readout speed that is two times faster6 and data processing capability that is 1.8 times higher. Image sensor and speed: The 35-mm full-frame CMOS image sensor’s back-illuminated structure improves light capture and, together with a copper wiring layer, enables very fast data transfer while keeping noise to a minimum for detailed images. Sensitivity and noise control: Standard ISO range is extended to ISO 100-51200 (expandable to ISO 50-2048007 for stills), and Sony’s Detail Reproduction and Area-specific Noise Reduction technologies preserve fine detail while reducing noise, delivering solid performance in mid-to-high sensitivity shooting. Dynamic range and color: A revamped sensor and processor afford an approx. 15-stop dynamic range at low sensitivities for smooth gradation from shadows to highlights. Color reproduction has also been enhanced for more natural-looking skin tones, skies, and saturated subjects straight out of camera. Stabilization and RAW: A 5-axis stabilization system using a stabilization unit, gyro sensors, and advanced algorithms provides a 5.0-step shutter speed advantage and compensates five types of camera shake across many lenses. The BIONZ X and front-end LSI process image signals in 16-bit form and support 14-bit RAW10 output, even during silent or continuous shooting. Autofocus (4D FOCUS) and tracking: The a7 III inherits AF improvements from the a9 to deliver the 4D FOCUS experience—strong continuous-AF tracking for unpredictable, fast-moving subjects. Enhanced AF tracking benefits from faster sensor readout to follow complex motion and anticipate sudden moves. Low-light AF and coverage: Advanced AF algorithms enable reliable autofocus down to EV-315 brightness. A 693-point focal-plane phase-detection AF system covers a wide area and provides high tracking performance; focal-plane phase-detection AF also supports A-mount lenses when used with the LA-EA3.16 Eye AF and portrait shooting: Eye AF has been upgraded to work with AF-C mode, allowing quick and dependable eye detection and tracking for both static and moving portraits, helping maintain optimal focus on subjects in motion.
