The Sony a7R III brings together high resolution, speed, and advanced video functionality in a single full-frame mirrorless body. At its core is a 42.4MP Exmor R BSI CMOS sensor teamed with the BIONZ X image processor to deliver detailed stills and improved overall image quality. The camera can shoot continuous bursts at up to 10 fps and benefits from processing enhancements that maintain clarity across the native sensitivity range of ISO 100-32000 (expandable to ISO 50-102400). Autofocus and tracking have been significantly upgraded with Sony’s Fast Hybrid AF System and 4D FOCUS. The AF system combines 399 phase-detection points with 425 contrast-detection areas for faster subject acquisition and more dependable tracking in varied lighting. Stabilization is provided by the 5-axis SteadyShot INSIDE sensor-shift system, which compensates for camera shake by as much as 5.5 stops to benefit both stills and movie capture. The camera’s hybrid AF also enables compatibility with A-mount lenses when used with the optional LA-EA3 or LA-EA1 lens mount adapters, retaining full continuous AF/AE tracking.
