Designed for APS-C-format cameras, the Sony E 55-210 mm f/4.5-6.3 OSS extends the reach of common kit zooms to an 82.5-315 mm equivalent, making it ideal for telephoto work. The variable f/4.5-6.3 maximum aperture helps keep the lens compact and lightweight. Optical elements include Two extra-low dispersion glass pieces to minimize chromatic aberrations and color fringing, plus Two aspherical elements to control astigmatism, field curvature, coma, and other monochromatic aberrations. Optical SteadyShot image stabilization reduces the effects of camera shake for sharper handheld images at slower shutter speeds and can be combined with a select camera's sensor-shift type image stabilization for enhanced blur control. An internal focus system provides faster, more responsive autofocus, prevents the lens from changing length during use, and enables a minimum focus distance of 3.3 ft. A rounded seven-blade diaphragm contributes to smooth, pleasing bokeh when using selective focus techniques.
