Its bright f/1.4 maximum aperture is ideal for low‑light shooting and gives precise control over depth of field. Autofocus is driven by an STM stepping motor for fast, quiet, and accurate focusing, and the lens supports full‑time manual focus override. An internal focusing design keeps the lens length constant during operation, improving handling and responsiveness. The optical formula uses 14 elements in 11 groups, including aspherical and ED elements to reduce coma and chromatic aberrations and to accurately reproduce point light sources. For tactile exposure control there is an integrated manual aperture ring while camera‑based aperture selection remains available. A built‑in micro‑USB port allows firmware updates.
