Sale is for the hard drive circuit board / logic board only — the hard drive itself is NOT included. We maintain a large inventory of PCBs, so the exact board you receive may differ slightly from the photo. These replacement PCBs are intended for hard drive repair and data recovery work. Most WD PCBs store critical, unique information in a ROM 'memory' chip; that data is required for the drive to function correctly. The ROM chip or its contents must be transferred to the replacement board. If the chip can be physically moved, a local computer technician can typically perform the transplant. For customers spending $60 or more we include a complimentary adaptation service that either transfers the ROM chip onto the new PCB or reprograms the board with the correct ROM data.
