Because we stock a large quantity of these PCBs, the unit you receive may differ slightly from the photo. Intended for data recovery and hard drive repair purposes. Most WD PCBs store unique drive information in a ROM "memory" chip; that data is required for the drive to operate correctly. The ROM chip or its contents must be transferred to the replacement board. If the chip can be physically moved, a local computer technician can typically perform the transfer. For customers whose order totals $60 or more, we include a complimentary adaptation service that either moves the ROM chip onto the new PCB or reprograms the replacement board with the correct ROM data.
