This listing is for the hard drive PCB / logic board ONLY — no hard drive is included. Because we keep a large stock of PCBs, the exact board you receive may differ slightly from the photo. Designed for hard drive repair and data-recovery use, this replacement board can fix drives when the PCB is the root cause. Most WD PCBs store unique parameters in the ROM "memory" chip; that ROM data is required for the drive to function correctly. The ROM chip itself, or its contents, must be transferred to the replacement board. If a chip transplant is feasible, a local computer technician can typically perform the work.
